My life in Cabarete.

After three years of barely getting any kite time in Ontario, and barely progressing from year to year, I decided to pick up and move to and work at the eXtreme Hotel on Kitebeach in Cabarete. I came prepared to stay for a year. This blog is where I will let you know how I'm progressing and what I'm up too in Cabarete.

No Haitians in Cabarete

Tourism here in DR has drastically been reduced over the last month.  It seems the media is making it look like Haitians are running rampant all around the DR.  Cabarete is not close to the Haitian border, and there are not any refugees hanging around.  It's business as usual here with days filled with surfing, kiting and other eco-friendly activities including sunbathing!

The Haiti border is quite closely monitored by US armed forces and air forces along with the UN corps.  The border and earthquale epicentre are hundreds of kilometres away on the southwest coast.  Cabarete is on the north coast.  There is nothing to worry about other than wind and waves.

So come on down!  The weather is great and the prices ar every reasonable!  Come enjoy what Cabarete has to offer!
