Well, I guess it all started in November when I took a week long vacation at eXtreme Hotel in Cabarete, DR.  I had an amazing time!  I was offered a job to be the host of the hotel and I accepted it.  Two weeks ago I moved here and am really glad I did!  My kiteboarding skills have improved more in two weeks than in the three years I kited in Ontario.  I meet awesome people every day, including some of the best riders out there, including Juan Marco and Alex Soto.

 The scene here is way more social and fun than in Hatteras, and it's not nearly as crowded as some videos make it look. It's only right in front of the kite schools that it's busy with people learning to body drap and do board starts.  There's plenty of room in the rest of the bay and furthur out from shore.  If you go out beyond the reef, it's mostly flat water riding.

One of t he great things is that it's very economical to fly here and West Jet lets us bring board bags for free on top of your two checked and two carry ons.  And laptops and pillows are freebies too.

Hotels in the area are inexpensive as is food and alcohol.  At Bozo's you can pick up 3 Brahma Grandes(750ml)  for 100 pesos($3) .  Transportation is also very affordable, whether you rent or take motos.

The surfing and SUPing are great and there are many ecotours and other activities for non-kiters including sunbathing and swimming in turquoise waters.

 I can hardly wait to see how my kite skills are going to improve  while I'm here.
