Hey Gang,

Kettle point looks like it's going to go off tomorrow. Am thinking of heading out there but as I have never been before wondering if any loopers will be out that way?

I'm torn...was hoping to hit up Wasaga on Saturday. The wind forecast is marginal at this point...Driving from Toronto - Kettle Point is quite a bit further but may be worth it!

What is Kettle Point like for a beginner (few lessons and 10hrs of solo water time)?

I am looking to get out but don't want to drop into a spot over my skill level. Plus I only have a 12m kite so I have to be very selective (cautiousus).

Might drive up from London to scope the spot out for my own knowledge, if I fly or not will be a call I make when (if) I arrive I guess.

I was hoping for Weller as it's way closer for me but wasaga was also a back up but the wind at KP is looking the best right now.

I don't really think KP is a very friendly begginer spot in N or NW wind as the waves can be pretty big from what I hear. From the forecast I am seeing too it may be too much for a 12m, but then again you never know what it's really going to be blowing like.

I am sure someone else will chime in on the spots skill level.

big waves on a big NW

KP can be nice and flat with more side shore winds, and beginner friendly, but a strong NW and it goes off pretty huge.

make sure you have someone point out the areas to avoid too...
There are a couple rocky areas under the water. Slick and sharp, but easily avoidable. Booties.

On a NW you can stay up N toward Ipperwash side and it will be a little less busy and less wavy, but it is all one drive on beach.

Ill be at kp this afternoon probabaly 1pm. Not an easy spot for begginers waves are predicted at 2M today according too marine forecast. looks like a good 3 days or so of wind if it holds out. If you are there for your first time try too avoid the rocks and shale you can chew up a kite or even worse your body if you get caught up there. If you stay closer to ipperwash end of KP its sandy there.

In the end we're all just chalk lines on the concrete. Drawn only to be washed away. For the time that I've been given. I am what I am ...

Thanks for the info guys.

Not feeling %100 today probably not a good time to hook in. The few guys I was planning on going out with couldn't make it. Think I need some buddies with me the first few times I get out. Not keen on self launching and landing.

Anyway enjoy.

Kettle pt went off yesterday.. so nice.. sunny and windy and a bit cold, but only if youre standing around. Should note that here too there are now rock outcroppings at the 'magic line' point, stay away from there. stoked.. a bunch of guys were there.. fun times! Steady steady 18kns (+/- 2) all day long..

I took some amazing shots of some people, but didn't get a chance to update them.. if you guys know them let em know..

I wanted to note in the previous photo this guy was riding with unhooked wakestyle (boots) powered moves.. no gloves no hood no booties.

I had on my 5 dollar paper thin gloves and no hood.

we carpooled and divvied up the gas cost that way, for kettle point from toronto it makes sense to carpool.
