Long Beach - great day!!! 11 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 10
Well worth skipping work today Light winds in the morning and then filled in nicely around lunch time. Over 10 kiters at the beach. Busiest I've seen it yet this season.

Also, just a heads up for those that weren't spoken to by the Conservation Area folk. The public beach lot will be closed (gates locked) for about a week in order for some rebuilding of the walkway down to the beach. The Conservation Area is providing free access to the Park during the construction work.

I wouldn't worry if they were a little younger.

The closure is effective starting today, June 20.

There were hot girls at the beach? Dang, I missed them.

They were hot alright!

Lets just say that they were mature!

Enjoyable session, given the forecast. 12's -13's for the most part. One 17M Turbine (he said he was super powered!)...and one 21M FS.

Yes great great day yesterday, hot wind, warm water, and lots of good company, except for 20 kt winds not much could have made it better. In fact I am thinking of taking tommorrow off work again!

I was even able to make my first attempts at riding my surfy strapless and unhooked in the waves, if my gopro didn't fog up I would have had some vid to share.

Only downside was coming in around 2:00 I noticed my trim line on my Naish bar was close to snapping, and I only replaced it about a month ago. Astroboy gave me some good tips on reinforcing it when I replace it again, but wondering if anyone else has had these wear issues. it was a couple inches up from the where the bar rests on the loop on the non cleat side. Any ideas????

Rubbing some surf wax on the line prevents wear.

for friction reduction, i've also heard of people using...
- sailkote http://www.mclubemarine.com/sailkote/
- paraffin wax (more slippery than surf wax)
- astroglide http://www.astroglide.com/home.aspx

the last one being more versatile/multi-use than the others

Easiest one is crash more. the line can tend to pick up a lot of dirt which will then wear it really quickly between sessions. . make a conscious effort to body drag a bit and wash of your bar after you jump in between sessions. The multiple lines through the bar seem to be worse for this type of wear. I haven't been crashing as much this year and I'm on my second chickenloop rope with my north gear.(heavily worn). For reference sailkote was useless in preventing any significant wear. Unless you carry a can and spray your bar everytime you get in and out of the water, it's gunna pick up dirt. Will try parafin on my next one.

Replaced my CL line tonight, looked into parafin wax a bit,I don't recommend it. the wax begins to liquify at 37 degrees, meaning it will be very close to or highter than melting temperatures in your car or in the sun on the beach. leave it in the sand when it's a goo and the moment you jump in the water you're left with sand embedded in your lines that will likely chew through it faster than if you'd done nothing at all. I decided on a "cold" snowboard/ski wax melted into the chicken loop as the cold temperature waxes are much harder and have a higher melting point. I'll let you know how it works out. Surf wax, being sticky by design I would expect it would pick up a lot of grit. although many people claim using it successfully, I think there are better options available.
